The goal was to build a participatory online platform that connects personal stories with the museum’s collection and makes cultural heritage accessible to everyone.
The project
Limburgs Museum wanted to expand its reach beyond the physical building in Venlo and its exhibitions throughout the region. The ambition was to create a digital home for the collective memory of Limburg. A place where stories from residents, heritage organisations, archives, and media come together and form a shared cultural experience.
The platform had to feel relevant and inviting to a broad audience, including young people and a diverse community of contributors. Instead of presenting culture as something you only encounter inside a museum, Ons Limburgs Museum captures where culture is made and lived today. Bravoure
Our challenge was to translate this vision into a digital experience that invites participation, connection, and discovery. A platform that is shaped by its community and grows over time as contributors share their stories.
From idea to execution
We began with strategy, defining how the digital platform could sit alongside the physical museum and local exhibitions as part of a three-part heritage experience. The aim was to position Limburgs Museum as the heart of Limburg’s cultural identity, both offline and online. Bravoure
With that foundation, we designed a participatory platform built around simple interactions. Visitors can like, save, share, complete polls, and take quizzes. They can upload their own stories, multimedia content, and personal memories. This approach invites everyone to contribute and become co-creators of the shared heritage. Bravoure
The platform brings together personal and archival material in an intuitive digital feed of video, photo, audio, and text. Each story gains context and connects with other content, forming a dynamic cultural narrative that reflects the experience of Limburgers past and present. Limburgs Museum
The result is a scalable and evolving digital platform that makes Limburg’s heritage accessible, engaging, and participatory. It captures the voices of the community and helps preserve the cultural memory of the province in a way that invites ongoing contribution and connection. Bravoure
