We redefined Beatportal from a content-led destination into a membership-centric platform. Our work focused on community strategy, membership design, and the development of an MVP that supports creators at different stages of their journey.

The project

Beatportal began as an editorial destination for DJs, producers, and electronic music fans. The ambition was to move beyond one-way content and build a platform shaped together with music creators. A shared home where creators can connect, learn, and grow.

To support this shift, we redefined Beatportal’s role in the creator journey. We introduced membership tiers that reflect different stages of growth, designed a social-first experience that matches how creators discover and share today, and built core platform features that encourage interaction, inspiration, and peer learning.

The result is a platform that supports the next generation of music creators and positions Beatportal as more than a source of content. It is a place to grow together.

From idea to execution

Music creators do not follow a straight path. They enter at different moments, develop at different speeds, and learn through practice, feedback, and peers. This insight became the foundation of the new Beatportal experience.

We translated this into a membership structure that supports creators from hobby to professional. The platform was designed around participation rather than passive consumption.

The first MVP launched with a personalised For You experience and membership access for professional creators. This enabled creators to publish, interact, and learn from each other. It marked the first step in turning Beatportal into a shared space shaped by its community.
